Sobell Badminton Club is organising a Badminton Coaching Weekend - for club members only.

What is it?
12 hours of badminton coaching, exclusively for Sobell BC members, delivered by a world class coach in 4 training blocks across 2 days.
What does it cost?
£210 per person
What is included in the price?
- 12 hours of coaching
- 1 night accommodation (twin room) in a 4* hotel on campus, a 15 min walk away from the sports hall. Single rooms may be available at a surcharge upon request.
- Saturday meals: Lunch and dinner at the hotel
- Sunday meals: Breakfast and lunch at the hotel
- We will stay at the Elite Athlete Centre and Hotel. It was designed specifically for elite athletes - like us! See their website: https://www.eliteathletecentre.co.uk/, Loughborough LE11 3TU.
How can I take part?
The event is exclusive for members of Sobell Badminton Club. If you are a member, please confirm in our Whatsapp group or by emailing sobellbc@gmail.com if you wish to participate. Your place will only be confirmed upon receipt of your deposit of £50 due by 15 January 2024. Please pay your deposit to the Sobell Badminton Club bank account.
We will announce the payment deadline for the remaining £160 at a later time.
Do I need to sign up quickly?
We recommend that you do. The event is limited to a maximum of 16 participants. Should there be more demand, we will maintain a waiting list.
How do I get from London to the venue?
There are direct trains from London St Pancras to Loughborough which take about 1h20m. Return tickets are available from about £75.
From the train station, it is a 30 min walk or a 8 min taxi ride to the university campus, where you find the sports hall and the hotel.
Who is the coach?
John Quinn.
John is a former English junior champion and won the world university championships title in 1994 as an athlete. He has coached at the highest level for many years including national coach roles in England, Scotland, France and Ireland. Throughout his coaching experience John has worked with players at the very highest level including Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth medallists.
John's assistant is Alex Dillingham. Alex is ranked inside the English top 20 in both men's and mixed doubles.
What is the exact timing?
Saturday
10am-1pm: Introduction & 1st training block
1.30pm: Lunch
2.30pm: 2nd training block
5.30pm: End of training
6.30pm: Dinner
Sunday
7.30am: Breakfast
9am-12pm: 3rd training block
12.30pm: Lunch
2pm: 4th training block followed by games
5pm: End of training
What will be the themes of the training sessions?
This will depend on the size and composition of our group of participants. SBC will liaise with the coach in advance to ensure the sessions will be tailored to our needs and wishes.
